10 December 2021, Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire: Today the African Energy Commission (AFREC) with support from the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) embarked on another training to train a second batch of cohort for energy statistician from the African Union (AU) Member states. The training is a two week-long workshop taking place from 29 November to the 10th of December 2021.
The African Energy Commission (AFREC) in collaboration with the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO) hosted virtual kick-off meetings to launch the activities of the NDC Support Centre in Morocco and improve reporting of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC). The NDC Support Center project is an initiative of AFREC and VITO which has already been launched in Malawi and Uganda in May and June 2021. Morocco is the third country to benefit from this pilot initiative, and more African countries are expected to benefit in the future.
24 - 26 April 2023, Lomé, Togo: The African Energy Commission (AFREC) jointly with the United Nations Statistic Division (UNSD) conducted a three-day workshop to discuss the Strategic Framework for Africa Bioenergy Data Management (AFBIDM).

The African Energy Commission (AFREC) together ith its partner Vito, through the Ministry of Energy of Malawi held a two-day technical stakeholder engagement meeting with government officials, statistics and energy utility agencies of Malawi, as part of the implementation of the NDC support centre project.
09 May 2022, Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire: AFREC has ramped up its capacity building initiatives by continuing to increase the African pool of trainers in energy statistic, through the training of the Trainers (ToT) programme.
With support from the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP), a ToT programme is currently underway to build skills of trainers who benefited from a beginner training course which was undertaken in Cote d’Ivoire, in December in 2021.
